My first investigator in the MTC was named Irene. The first lesson went awful because we didn't know what we were doing at all! The second went worse if that is possible! The third lesson I was almost in tears walking in because I didn't want to go in. How could I face her! But I did because I had to. From the moment the lesson started, what Sister Matthews and I said wasn't us. It was the Holy Ghost. We prayed a lot before and even more after! While there the spirit told me "Stephanie, this is why you are here. Do your best and I will make up the rest." I know the Lord is there and that this isn't our work we are doing, it is His! I couldn't do it without His help!
You would be proud of me for all I did last Sunday! At the MTC, we are told that we all should prepare a five minute talk on obedience and that President Edwards would receive by revelation who should speak. Just before the sacrament, they announced that I would be one of the ones speaking. So with about 7 minutes warning I gave a talk in sacrament meeting! Luckily, like I said it was on obedience and that's the same as my farewell talk (thank the bishopric for assigning that topic for me) and I was prepared and felt comfortable doing it. Then, what will shock most, I sang with a group! Yep that's right, I sang in our fireside! It brought the President to tears which I guess is a good thing! Then we had testimony meeting and they said, "We will now have a three hour testiminy (how they say testimony) meeting where everyone will either bare their testimony or we will stop at three hours, whatever one comes first." 2 hours and 45 min later, we ended our testimony meeting. So I bore my testimony too! It was a good but long Sunday!
The Lord shows us He loves us in all that He does. I can't believe how much love He has shown to me in every little thing! I never would have guessed I would be in my current situation, but I can't wait! This is really weird because if you would have told me about this situation two weeks ago I would have laughed and said that it was impossible and I could never handle it! But the Lord tells us in simple ways He knows us and is mindful of us.
Now... the moment you have all been waiting for ...
Now this all sounds great and you might be thinking, "Why was she talking about how she wouldn't have guessed her situation before this and never would have thought she could do it." Well there is something that is surprising about my trainer... Her name is Sister Merrill from Colorado and she is amazing..... but..... she is a Chinese missionary!!! Which means I am serving in a Chinese zone... hence, I am going to learn some Chinese over the next 12 weeks! We are currently teaching all Chinese investigators and they want to start a Chinese branch someday so we are focusing on looking for Chinese families! But the fun part, because I am in a Chinese area... I get to order and Chinese name tag! So yep... I'm great! =)
We have a lot of hope for this area and are kind of starting new this transfer! It is going to be a fabulous transfer and I can't wait! We have already seen miracles! Last night we were talking to a wonderful woman on the bus and she said she has seen people going to our church and would love to come sometime! She gave us all her information and we are hopeful she will be there on Sunday!
