More Chinese Sisters, YEAH...

Okay so first, the flat! It is almost clean but we are trying to figure things out. Tonight they are going to bring us furniture! Yay!!! We haven't had anywhere to sit and that has been hard. We sit on the floor to eat our tea and lunch every day. But it is an adventure. Tonight we are getting cushions and a book case! That is really exciting! Also, we are figuring out sleeping arrangements! We went from two of us to three, today we get one more, and Wednesday we get another... for those of you counting... that is a 5 sister flat!!! Yeah kind of crazy!

Last Wednesday we picked up Sister Loh (pronounced low). She is from Singapore but goes to BYU! Yay! She is so cute! She is the best! Our trio gets along so well and we all seem to complete each other which is fun! I love every second of it! We laugh and joke around a lot but we still get work done and have spiritual experiences together and that's most important.

Today we are getting Sister Lily May. She is a mini missionary. She will be with us for two weeks. She is a recent convert of just over a year and wants to go on a mission so badly. We did the fireside about a week ago with her and she is pretty great. I'm excited for her to join us. She is 17 and doesn't go to BYU so she will add a little mix to our group. It will be good. She decided last week that she would want to go on a mini mission and now she is coming a week later! It is insane! But it will be good!

Wednesday we are getting Sister Jordan from the Provo MTC studying Chinese. She went to school at BYU with Sister Merrill and will be Sister Loh's companion. And I think Sister May is with us... we are a little confused about the situation but should find out tonight! This is so exciting! =)

Story time! We get an hour for Mormon.org/familysearch.org/hasteningtheworkofsalvation websites each week. It is a great thing. Last week while we were at the library I noticed a sign that said that they struggle with two family history sites there. I went and gave the librarian there a card for family search and she said she would pass it to her boss. The worker that was next to her told me that she used it and loves the site. It is a great missionary tool and they said they would promote the site there because it works and is free! Yay! It felt good to follow through with a prompting like that and I hope that someone is benefited by it. So family history is a great tool! Try it! =)

Oh the next one is one you will all laugh at me... Friday we were teaching a lesson outside the Sidney Jones library at Liverpool University and our first lesson was going over and our next appointment showed up. My companions didn't move so I went and sat with him.. Turns out they stayed there and I taught the whole first lesson by myself. Funny thing is... He didn't understand some English and so we had to get past the language barrier. Luckily I knew Heavenly Father in Chinese and a few other key words like missionary. But after that lesson my companions were still talking to the other investigator. I went back and sat with them. They were helping him learn short hand so his notes could be faster (we do a lot of things like that or proofreading for service) and right as I sat down... a bird (seagull- there are a lot of them around) pooped on my hand... yep... thank you mommy for giving me wet wipes in my bag! We all just laughed but I can now say I was pooped on by a bird... oh the joys! =)

Yesterday we watched “The Work of Salvation” the missionary broadcast! It was great! I loved it!!! It took us this long to get it from our bishop so that we could watch it. But I thought that it had a lot of great and inspiring ideas!

Okay now to share something I learned in personal study. So... I was thinking of all the fears that I have had about serving a mission. I have decided that the Lord has a list and one by one He is checking it off with a smile and a laugh knowing I am going to grow and learn new things. The list looks something like this:

Stephanie’s Fears:

·         Mission - check - Serving one!
·         Out of states - check  - England!
·         New language - check - Chinese!
·         Living with sisters - check - by Wednesday there will be five of us!

I am sure I have more but those are the big ones. Anyway... I was thinking about how I have learned to overcome them and not only that but I have learned to love the new situation that I am put into! I love the Chinese work and England and so far being in a trio! I was thinking of how the Lord helps us overcome our weaknesses Ether 12:27. I was lead to Jacob 4:7. This talks about how we overcome our weaknesses/fears by his grace and his condescension unto the children of men "that we have power to do these things" By the Atonement of Christ we have power to do all things Philippians 4:13. I was also reminded of Joshua 1:9. (If you are interested in my other trains of thought that day I read Ether 12:37, 1 Nephi 17:50-51, and D&C 121:7-9) It was really good thing. Also I invite you to read your Patriarchal blessing and see if there is a scripture that relates. That's how I kind of got thinking about all of this and it is a really incredible experience!

Anyway, I love you so much!!! Thank you for the letters each week it is so good to hear from home.

Love always,

Sister Hubbard
